Review of Ausfest 2002: The Australian Digital and Video Film Festival, by Trevor Gensch for Filmnet

Another excellent highlight of the program is the mock-umentary CRAZY RICHARD. Richard Veed (Richard Viede), former child television star is making a comeback after years of drug addiction and a near fatal overdose. His return to the spotlight is in a late night gay sitcom playing a promiscuous teenager. A film crew is also present documenting the making of the new TV series.

But what exactly does the Director of the documentary have in mind? Why is she spending so much time with Richard? More than a tongue in cheek look at child stars and the inevitable fall from grace they endure,CRAZY RICHARD is a look at fame and obsession, all through the lens of a camera. And we have a front row seat for this ride.

This Australian feature is a polished, classy film that belies its low budget and semi-professional cast. Keep an eye on these guys, they are going places.
