SCREENWRITING TEAM ARE WINNERS Comic collaborators Fiona Harris, Gerard Cogley, Katrina Mathers and Nicholas Bufalo have picked up a BEST SCREENPLAY award at Melbourne's Film Eclectic for their short film HUDSON, LOGAN & CARTER ON THE CASE. The four decided to make the short film about three detectives spending a long night on a stakeout earlier in the year after having worked together on the ABC TV series FLIPSIDE. Cogley, Mathers and Harris respectively play Hudson, Logan & Carter - the cops in the film, with Bufalo acting as their director. Mathers' company LONG SHOT FILM ENTERTAINMENT edited and produced the short with Bufalo's FIRST GENERATION FILMS funding the digital video production on the smell of an oily rag. "Its a wonderful genre spoof" says Paul Harris of Radio 3RRR's Filmbuff's Forecast about the film. "It's funny because it's played so straight". "We just love making stuff" said Cogley about the process of production "although it's kind of ironic to win a Best Screenplay award, given that we completely improvised the script". HUDSON, LOGAN & CARTER ON THE CASE has already screened at film festivals in Mexico and London, and has been shortlisted for other awards locally. It is currently screening between other programming on thecomedychannel. Issued
