Car Park

Like a mini-MySpace site/online travel journal/interactive blog. This is the subscriber driven section of the site and the most interactive and key area beyond the animations themselves.

This is the place where users house and upload all their own personal stuff about their car, service records, photos, travel stories and travel experiences to share with each other and as an archive for themselves. If they make videos, take photos, write poetry that has anything to do with cars, road travel or mechanics they tag their material and upload making it available for others to rate and comment on. The most popular material is linked back and featured on other parts of the site for the wider community to enjoy.

Users start by naming and personalising their 'car park' on the site. They enter some key street and suburb details for places that they hang out at and regularly visit, and they mark off some places they've been on a map. For privacy reasons we suggest they don't enter any actual addresses but they might want to upload some photos of their favourite places to visit around the country.

They invite friends and family and approve people as official buddies and email list recipients to receive their updates. If they do a road trip, they can sms-in automatic updates, photos, videos and live blogs to their page from the road as they go. Great for their families to keep track of them and great for their buddies to share their experiences and offer tips of where to stay and what to do along the way. Discounts at backpackers, music concerts, free brake checks etc at various points along the way are targeted to their phone as they indicate where they are in their travels.

This page can also link back to YouTube, private websites, blogger, MySpace and all kinds of other online communities as they choose.

At the end of each trip they can spit out calculations of how far they travelled, what their fuel economy was based on their distance and petrol costs etc. and a map showing where they've just been.

They can easily summarise and transfer blogged information about places they've stayed etc, to other travel information sites such as "trip adviser" and "lonely planet". They can submit their videos to Gmech for an official listing, or to "lonelyplanet.tv" for official screenings. They can offer their videos to other users for ratings.

For budding car mechanics this is where they upload their own home made videos (in the style of "video jug"). It's also where they upload original creative material, such as short stories, poems, photographs, and new animations etc as created using the Creative Commons licence and featuring Gmech materials.

Frequent travellers and users of the site will receive reward points and will become eligible for Greenfleet credits, discount roadside assistance memberships, other sponsor prizes and they may also have their member profiles featured on the site or in co-sponsor magazines.
